Expanding Our Reach in 2025
In our first year, we exceeded our goals. We served over 600 veterans and families every month. During the holidays, we double the number of those we served. This translates to giving out over 8,000 pounds of fresh produce, meat, eggs, and prepared food to those that we serve every month. In 2025, we are launching new programs to serve additional groups that truly need our help.
Home Bound Veterans
Home bound veterans need our help. Veterans with limited mobility are often the last to ask for help. While over 5% of the elderly population is home bound, there is little information on the number of home bound veterans. Most of this is due to the fact that veterans often don’t report their limited mobility. Through our outreach with the VFW, we know that the home bound veteran population is significant. Learn More.
Senior Shares
Seniors represent one of the highest levels of food insecurity. Options for food are also often limited. Our Senior Shares program focuses on seniors in need and provides food through micro food markets where seniors live or nearby. Learn More.
School Teacher Shares
Many new school teachers and school teachers that are early in their careers often cannot afford median rent levels. Even more teachers are challenged to meet their needs for food. In California, approximately 30% of teachers experience rent burden, which also translates to food insecurity.
