Serving Seniors in Need

Nearly 40% of seniors are food insecure and struggle to pay for the food they need. In addition to this, seniors often feel shame or embarrassment and are hesitant to ask for help. Making matters even more challenging is that nearly 1/3 of food programs for seniors have a waitlist to receive support. Our Senior Shares program is in its initial stages to address the need for food and essentials for seniors in the East county of San Diego.

Our Senior Shares program focuses on providing free produce, meat, and shelf stable food to seniors in need. We make concerted efforts to locate seniors that truly need food. This process includes performing outreach in senior communities to identify seniors in need of support.
