When talking to our market shoppers, there were individuals from across the spectrum, from active-duty military to veterans to families in need. We spoke with mothers with children whose fathers were deployed. We talked to our shoppers like we talk to our neighbors and friends. We got to know them. But it didn’t happen overnight. Many were hesitant to share much the first few weeks. So, we talked about ourselves, why we created Serving Good, and our weekly markets. We learned people’s names and began addressing market shoppers by name. Over time, those who didn’t share much started seeing others share with us and other shoppers. Soon, they shared as well. We made it a practice to greet each shopper at each department of our market. That was our first step in building a community. We are proud to continue getting to know those we serve and welcoming everyone we can help. We welcome our partners and supporters to come visit our markets to experience our community.
